CableCom Training and Hartlepool College are now working in partnership to develop a new and exciting programme of learning supporting Hartlepool Football Club, the fans and the community in response to the future needs of industry. As a result of this new partnership arrangement Hartlepool United FC will be launching a new football in the community flagship programme commencing in August called ‘Career & Skills through Football’. The aim of this programme is to create a hub for fans and members of the community and provide training opportunities leading to the achievement of nationally accredited qualifications which may lead to a career & route into employment within the telecommunications, media and cable industry. This new initiative will be based at the football club and will utilise the existing study support centre facility and a new practical training workshop. Initially the programme will offer training to meet the needs of the unemployed & the local community. Telecommunications is one of the fastest growing technologies in the world requiring 110,500 new entrants a year over the next 5 years into IT & Telecoms professional occupations (Source: e-skills UK ‘IT & Telecoms Insights 2010). Those attending training courses will gain a nationally recognised telecommunications qualification along with the additional, necessary sector skills required; all gained within an informal relaxed hands on practical environment at the football club. This training is designed so as to get the unemployed to job ready status with potential routes into employment.
