BTEC Diploma in ICT Professional Competence and C&G 3667 Award in Communications Cabling

Who is the qualification for?

The qualification is suitable for those seeking recognition of their competence within a variety of telecommunications and data communications related activities. For unemployed persons seeking work, programs are scheduled over a 13 week period with attendance required two days each week. The courses take place throughout the year and have been very successful in helping people get employment in the industry.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements or age restrictions for the qualification. It is open to any candidate who has the potential to meet the requirements of the qualification.

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed for practical ability and underpinning knowledge. Observations assessing practical application take place in our own (simulation) workshop. If you are employed you can be assessed at your place of work. Successful completion of three on-line assessments is required.

How does this qualification improve my career prospects?

By providing a nationally recognized qualification in specialist communication technology and the opportunity to ‘personalize’ the qualification to meet the specific needs of your work place.

Where can this qualification lead me?

Candidates can progress onto Levels 3 & 4 for Communication Technology Professionals or diversify into related sectors: Contact Centers & IT due to the fundamental relationships built into the standards and structures.

  • CISCO courses
  • Level 3 BTEC National in Communications Technology
  • Level 5 BTEC Higher Nationals in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Communication)

What will I study on the course?

Candidates are required to take eight units:

  • Develop personal and organizational effectiveness
  • Health & Safety
  • Interpersonal & written communication
  • Technical fault remedy selection
  • Technical fault diagnosis
  • Testing ICT systems
  • Working with ICT hardware and equipment
  • Email or Word Processing

How long will it take?

The qualification usually takes between 3 to 6 months to complete. This will be agreed by you with your assessor, to meet your individual requirements.
